FUTURE POTENTIAL OF TOURISM IN THE STATE

Pilgrimage is an important activity in man's life. People in large number visit the important religious places.

The Holy Shrine of Shree Mata Vashino Devi Ji fame is one such place to Katra further from Katra town.

For visiting the Holy cave one has to visit Jammu to Katra by road around 48 Kms and then a hilly track of 14 Kms from Katra town. Pilgrims have to stay over night at Bhawan and Katra for two reasons. Firstly it is almost a necessity for those coming from long distance as the nature and journey demands such stay. Secondly due to heavy rush of pilgrims for having " Darshan " of Holy Cave of Shri Mata Vashino Devi Ji.

There is a scope for additional hotels which can provide reasonable comforts to cater to the requirement of upper / upper-middle / middle class tourists and other visitors.

Locations selected, offer potential for specific type of tourism. Some of the locations would be suitable for developing a mix of tourist activities.
