Arjuna's Hymn to the Goddess
I bow to thee, O highest of Yoginis, O thou that are identical with Brahma. O thou that are free from decrepitude and decay. I bow to thee, O bringer of benefits to thy devotees, O thou that rescues from dangers. O thou that are endued with every auspicious attribute. O thou that deserve the most regard full worship, O fierce one, O giver of victory, O victory's self. O thou that are dressed in yellow robes, O thou that are white in hue, O thou that are black in hue, O thou that are diverse eyed, I bow to thee. O thou that are the Vedas, the Shrutis, and the highest virtue. O thou that are a knowledge of the past, O thou that are ever present in the temple on the slope of the mountain in Jamboo. Thou are the science of Brahma among sciences, and thou are the sleep of creatures for which there is no waking, O that possesses the six highest attributes, O thou dwells in the inaccessible regions. Thou are Swaha, Sadha, Kala and Kashta, Sarswati, Savitri, the mother of the Vedas, and the science of Vedanta. With inner soul cleansed, I praise thee, O great goddess. Let victory always attend me through thy grace on the field of battle. Thou are the unconsciousness, thou the sleep, thou the illusion, thou the modesty, thou the beauty (of all creatures). Thou are the twilight, thou are the day, thou are Savitri, and thou -are the mother. Thou are contentment, thou are growth, thou are light. It is thou that supports the sun and the moon and makes them shine. Thou are the prosperity of those who are prosperous. The Siddhas and Charanas behold thee in contemplation.
